A broad strategy is employed to detect and remove component level faults from various hardware and software components. Furthermore, a system level test methodology is used to ensure full functional correctness of the tester.

Test Architectures for Testing Distributed Systems
This paper suggests two test architectures for testing distributed, concurrent systems: a global tester that has total control over the distributed system under test (SUT) and, more interestingly, a distributed tester comprising several concurrent tester components. The test architectures rely on a grey-box testing approach that allows to observe internal interactions of the SUT by the tester. ...
متن کاملThe UW MacTester: A Low-Cost Functional Tester for Interactive Testing and Debugging
We describe a low-cost functional tester that provides a large number of programmable I/O signals for interactively testing and debugging chips, boards and subsystems. Testing a subsystem requires only minimal hardware setup which allows the tester to be shared by several users and reduces the overall cost of test equipment. Testing is performed under program control which can be driven either ...
متن کاملTesting Transition Systems with Input and Output Testers
The paper studies testing based on input/output transition systems, also known as input/output automata. It is assumed that a tester can never prevent an implementation under test (IUT) from producing outputs, while the IUT does not block inputs from the tester, either. Thus, input from the tester and output from the IUT may occur simultaneously and should be queued in finite buffers between th...

متن کاملUsing Model-Based Diagnosis to Improve Software Testing
It is often regarded as best-practice that the case the developer that writes a program, and the tester that tests the program, are different people. This supposedly allows unbiased testing. This separation is also motivated by economic reasons. As a result, the tester, especially in black-box testing, is oblivious to the underlying code. Thus, when a bug is found, the tester can only file a bu...
